Obesity is starting to rise dramatically in the United States, people are blaming junk food but that may not be the cause. Parents are not limiting the amount of junk food that the children eat causing them to want junk food where ever including school. A couple of Document that provide evidence are Source A by the New York Times, Source C by Norton Center Infographic, and Source D by Sherzod Abdukadirov. In the United States less than 25% of High School Students Attend Physical Education, So if students are not exercising on a daily bases junk food can't really be blamed because there is no exercise in the student's daily routine. Some of the reasons why junk food should not be banned from schools are It will not affect the amount of obese children, Junk Food may not be the cause, and lastly parents are not teaching kids how to eat healthy.
To begin with, banning junk food from schools wouldn't have a big impact in the amount of obesity children. Soda to most people is considered junk food and by banning it from school it wouldn't help. In source D the author states, “They found that while students with soda restrictions had less access to soda in school they did not reduce their overall soda consumption.” Schools are putting restrictions on soda but yet students are still managing to obtain soda from other places. Schools that have banned junk food are not reaching their goal of reducing obesity due to the fact that students are not just getting snacks from school but from other stores nearby. In the source mentioned before it states, “... will have to walk only a few more steps to a shop or vending machine not on city premises to purchase the soda or snack they want.” Stores are providing student snacks which means that the schools are not reaching their goal of by banning junk food and making kids eat healthy.
To add on, junk food is being blamed for causing obesity because there is nothing else to blame and school are trying to fix the problem. But kids are at home sitting down doing nothing when they should be exercising. In the Source D the author claims,”That means that junk food consumption does not really explain the differences in the their weight.” Kids that eat more junk food than another would be more fat unless they exercise like they are supposed to on a daily bases. A lot of the kids get home from school and stay inside instead of exercising. In the source C it states, “ Our kids spend nearly 8 hours every day watching tv, playing video games, using computers, talking on cellphone and texting.” Kids are becoming lazy causing them not to exercise and become obese.
Lastly, students are becoming obese do to the unhealthy choices and schools are trying to fix the problem but when really parents should be the ones fixing the problem. Schools are not responsible for teaching ids how to choose a healthy meal, parents are suppose too. In source A the author claims, “ An across-the board junk food ban does not teach young people how to make healthy choices.” Nothing will come out of banning junk food, the only thing children will learn is that they need to walk a couple more steps to get the junk food they want. Instead of schools banning junk food they should help kids become more active, so they won't be watching tv all day. IN Source mentioned before it states, “ Fourth improving what we teach about nutrition and requiring more physical activity are better ways to approach obesity than imposing statewide junk food bans.” Improving students exercise skills would have a bigger impact on obesity than by banning junk food.
To conclude, Schools have a good intention by banning junk food but it simply not the right way to go. People need to learn that there is more factors to obesity than just junk food. A couple examples are It will not affect the amount of obese children, Junk Food may not be the cause, and lastly parents are not teaching kids how to eat healthy. Some people may argue that junk food is the problem but exercise also has a huge impact on obesity.

When you are assigned a project you don't use your brain as a resource you go onto your computer and use google. Google is a helpful source to find pretty much any pictures or records, but it may not be affecting us in a positive manner. When you find things on the internet you don't tend to memorize it as well as when you reading a book because the book is not always available and the internet is. According to Source A,BC google is taking away our ability to think, creates difficulty to process the information, and affect the way are ability to think, creates difficulty to process the information and affect the way you remember what you learned.
First, Google is affecting the way you think. The way you create knowledge by thinking and remembering. According to Source B,”... it’s through remembering that you make connections with what we know, what you feel, and this gives rise to personal knowledge.” When you search something up you read then click away to find another site and then you forget what u just learned from the other site. Searching the internet for information there is no knowledge being created because you are not thinking about it so you don't remember it. In the Source mentioned before it states “... we only remember information we pay attention to”she say” If we spend all our time online … we might miss important experiences and not commit term to long -term memory.” When you read a book you focus on specific information allowing you to think and remember it but when you're searching google you tend to forget.
To add on, processing information becomes a difficult task when browsing Google. There a lot of ads and useful information on google which does not allow u to concentrate.IN the Source A it states, “Google doesnt want is to slow down, the faster you zip across the web , clicking linkcand skimming words and pictures, the more ads Google is able to show you…” The ads to the side oft he recor you are reading distracts you and wants you to click them wich causes you to lose focus. Distractions are there to make you lose focus and that is the last thing you want when you are looking for a resource. In the Source mentioned before it states ,” If we distracted we understand less, remember less, and learn less.” On a book there are no adds which always you ry concentrate and not to lose your focus like if you were on Google.
Lastly, Reading the information is the easy part but remembering is the hard part and Google makes it even harder. The internet is like your memory because when you want to know something you search it up and it appears but without Google you can't search it up in your brain because you rely on the internet. In Source C it states, “With search engines available all the time, you often don't encode the information internally because when you need it, you will look it up on the internet.”If you are researching about animals on the internet and you forget your phone that also means you forget everything you learned because you rely in Google. When you search Google and you find a good source you typically don't remember the information but rather the site. According to Source mentioned before it states, “ When the information is saved externally we usually don't memorize it, but rather remember the place where you can find it.” So if the internet is down you don't have anything because all you know is what you typed in the search bar and not the actual article.
To conclude, Google is helpful but make it hard to remember the information you read.
