Gate Icon
The gat icon I choose is change over time because one of the main characters White Fang goes through a lot of cautious and his feeling and personality starts to change. Change can also be related to Weedon Scott because he changes the feelings he has for White Fang. To support this on page 153 where it states, “As the two men sat outside their cabin one day watching White Fang, Scott announced, “He’s a wolf we’ll never tame him.”” In other words Scott is trying to say that White Fang is to wild and they don't know if they can make him normal. Then, towards the end of the story Scott changes his perspective of White Fang, as stated on page 234 when it says, “”We must try everything!” exclaimed the judge(Scott). “Never mind the expense. Bring in every doctor, every specialist, every piece of medical equipment in this country. White Fang must get every chance to recover!”” To summarize Scott wants White Fang to survive at all cost because he is so emotionally connected, especially because he saved his life.

Conflict
The main conflict is when White Fang was sold to Beauty Smith by Cold Beaver. This was the conflict because it caused White Fang to change his perspective towards humans because Beauty Smith abused him. This affected his trust towards humans especially for Weedon Scott because he was trying to tame him after he rescued White Fang from Beauty Smith. It took a lot of motivation, dedication and love because White Fang needed to feel loved after all he went through. White Fang reacts to the torture of Beauty Smith by turning back to his wild instincts that mean kill any if it means safety. This caused internal and external conflict because it made White Fang more upset and mad at humans and it also made him resort to his wild instincts. This can be supported on page 123, “He hated everything and everybody: his chain, his pen, the men who peered in, their snarling dog. But most of all, he hated Beauty Smith!” This is also to say that White Fang’s hatred is mainly based on Beauty Smith because of all this bad things he’s done to him especially putting him in dog fights. Also on page 153, it says, “He’s a wolf we’ll never tame him” This is to say that it might be too late because of all the things he’s gone through, but he manages to change.
